BCHL Brings Advanced Analytics to 2024 Combine and Top Prospects Game

Penticton, Canada (Jan, 2024). The British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) has announced a collaboration with Drive Hockey Analytics for the upcoming 2024 Top Prospects Game Jan. 19 in Penticton.

The on-ice combine for Top Prospects players on the morning of the 19th will be powered by Drive Hockey Analytics, meaning they will manage all on-ice drills during the event. In addition, the company will also provide cutting-edge player tracking services during the Top Prospects Game.

Drive Hockey Analytics’ groundbreaking tracking system brings professional-grade analytics within reach of all hockey levels, revolutionizing insights into player and team performance.

Players participating in the Top Prospects Game will be outfitted with state-of-the-art sensors, enabling the capture of unique performance data at over 3,000 data points per second. Drive Hockey Analytics is pioneering the same concept to the NHL with their player and puck tracking technology, providing similar analytics as NHL EDGE to the BCHL and other youth and amateur leagues, delivering unparalleled insights into player performance, tactics, and game dynamics with an emphasis on affordability and ease-of-use.

“We are excited to be working with Drive Hockey Analytics at our Top Prospects Game next week,” said BCHL Commissioner Steven Cocker. “After they were able to provide important data about our players at last year’s event, we were happy to have them do the same thing this year, while also taking charge of our on-ice combine. The BCHL is always looking at ways to provide our teams and our athletes with the best resources possible and this partnership will help reinforce that.”

“Partnering with the BCHL for the Top Prospects Game aligns perfectly with our mission to democratize advanced analytics in hockey,” said Adam Nathwani, Chief Operating Officer at Drive Hockey Analytics. “Our sensor-based system, accessible to amateur athletes, embodies our dedication to revolutionizing player development. We’re honoured to collaborate with the BCHL, a league at the forefront of innovation, to showcase the power of data-driven insights in shaping the future of the sport.”

The BCHL Top Prospects Game is part of the league’s All-Star Weekend, which also includes a Skills Competition, Alumni & Friends Game, featuring former NHL stars, and a 3-on-3 All-Star Tournament, all played on Saturday, Jan. 20 on the newly built outdoor rink in the downtown Penticton area.
