Make an impact to the future of hockey and sports analytics by being part of the ground floor team in a Vancouver area Sports Tech venture.  We’re looking for a proven Data Engineer to join us and help develop our data governance, architecture, ETL and analytics capabilities. You will work with a team of highly talented business, technology and sports professionals to bring the latest sports data & analytics capabilities to life using the world most advanced player tracking technologies.

What you’d be doing:             

  • Creating and enforcing policies around data collection, management and privacy
  • Creating technical ETL mapping specifications, implementing and optimizing ETL data pipelines and real-time data streams
  • DevOps work on Google Cloud Platform, managing databases
  • Creating data models to accurately predict and identify hockey-based events within our data
  • Defining and advancing best practices and data frameworks within the tech team
  • Hiring and managing tech team staff, demonstrating company and industry leadership

About you: 

  • 5+ years experience and post-secondary degree (Master’s preferred)
  • Dev Ops ability; Github, Docker, Kubernetes experience
  • Proven data engineering abilities with strong Python skills
  • Expertise working with relational, non relational and multidimensional databases, SQL Statements, data information frameworks and business semantic layers for reporting as required
  • Experience assessing, setting up and implementing visual analytics solutions
  • Experience designing and implementing solutions in the cloud platform (preferably GCP).
  • Experience with applied statistics and quantitative modeling (e.g. regression, survival analysis, segmentation, experimentation, and machine learning when needed)
  • Experience with API development, data modeling, data warehousing preferred
  • Self-driven and motivated to succeed while working from home
